Bruxelles!

We arrived in Brussels mid afternoon and couldn’t get into our hostel yet. We were starving and found a delicious kebab place (!). We then walked to the center of town where we saw the Grand Place, supposedly one of Europe’s most beautiful square and it was quite impressive. We then walked to a cafĂ© for some warmth because it was actually freezing outside. I had a cappuccino but the girls had a hot chocolate where they served you steaming hot milk and then chocolate on a sucker and you mixed it in and let it melt. Pretty yummy!
Walked around some more the Mannekin Pis…. i.e. Pissing Boy. No joke- just a little boy peeing and it’s a fountain. Oh the Belge.
We were freezing and decided to see a movie- what harm could be done? SO MUCH. We saw the weirdest movie of all time. Its in the Cannes festival and is Australian and we recognized the actress and its called Sleeping Beauty and we all like fairy tales so thought it would be magical… WE WERE WRONG. We had no idea what it was about going into it and I urge you not to watch the trailer because it is the weirdest most sexual film and you will be scared for life… its really freaking weird.

The next day it snowed. Which meant it was really cold! But we did two walking tours and saw the European quarter and lots of comic book murals and other things but mostly we were really cold. But as most museums are closed on Mondays we had no choice but to walk and made the most of it.

In Bruges

Bruges. What an adventure. Charlotte kindly dropped s off at the train station and we boarded our train. We had a connection in Lilles and barely made the train. About an hour into the train ride, I start trying to read the train sign that is saying the next stop and the ending stop. We are on the wrong train. But this was not a stupid American mistake- there were 8 of us on the wrong train trying to get to Bruges... Train stations faul. The conductor prints off new tickets tells us to get off and get on the right train going to Bruges. We oblige (all 8 of us). It was the wrong train. It had arrived two minutes before ous so we assumed it was the right one. Got off at the next stop, took the same train back and waited for the right train this time. We did finally make it.
Bruges was beautiful. Small and quaint. We toured the church, hospital, brewery, and chocolate factory. Our hostel had a free walking tour which we took and ended up hanging out all night with the other travelers all night. Quite the adventure.
We tried belgium beer, chocolate and fries. Off to a good start. We've safely made it to our net destination- hopefully this city will prove as exciting as Bruges!!

Paris For Beginners

So I have arrived in Paris and after 48 hours we leave tomorrow!
My bags of course did not arrive when I did. Luckily Charlotte was were she was supposed to be when I got off the bus and I made it safely to her house. We hung out and picked her little cousin up and took her to her gymnastic class then had dinner at her aunts. Played a funny card game with her little cousin and uncle then went home and passed out.
The next day we hung out with Antoine and Rene (Charlie G-Pas) and then went back to the airport to get my bags and get the girls. Luckily my bags were there and so were the girls! We came back to Charlottes apartment and organized stuff for our trip tomorrow. We walked around Paris getting the girls phones and going to a traditional french place for dinner where I had veal... yummy! came home and organized more and leaving tomorrow morning! Ill try and upload when I can but I won't have easy internet and only my ipod touch... so be patient.
XOXO!

The long awaited departure

Back by popular demand of my other blogs, here is the blog where I will do my best to describe my European adventures. This blog is much different from my other blogs. For one, look! I made it pretty. Second, this is the first time I am not solely writing on a tiny ipod and could care less about my spelling, punctuation, or any other mistakes. I have a real keyboard to type on...what a nice change. That doesn't mean this one will be spotless... so don't be too hard on me.
But like my other blogs, it doesn't hurt to comment every once and a while..so I know you care and go a ahead and give me an update on YOUR life. I'd like that. But it DOES hurt to harass me about why there hasn't been an update for 2 days! I am hopefully out enjoying France and speaking French so no need to attack me if I don't update everyday. That being said I will do my best so that I don't get a thousand phone calls...
Currently I am in the Salt Lake Airport with a 4 hour layover before I, hopefully (fingers crossed), make the flight to Charles De Gaulle. When I arrive there I have to somehow manage to get my two carry on and two checked baggages (thats 4 total...all very heavy) to the train then to the metro then to the Louvre where Charlotte with be waiting for me... to help me cross the street to her apartment. Wish me luck.
Goodbye America!
